Fluffy Favourites Megaways Eyecon Slot Review Demo

Fluffy Favourites Megaways: Slot Overview
With offices in Australia and the Channel Islands, Eyecon launched in 1997 as a computer game company, then turned their attention to online casino games two years later. 2006 saw the release of a stuff toy-filled game called Fluffy Favourites, and now, we have the updated Megaways remake. This is the studio’s first time with BTG’s ubiquitous game engine; thus, you can see why they choose to remake what they dub a ‘global slots phenomenon’. Some might call the move to use an older hit as their first Megaways release a safe move, but we’re not so sure. Fluffy Favourites Megaways employs one of those themes that can easily turn a player off if the rest of the game isn’t up to scratch. Is it? Let’s see.

To the fairground, we head to take in the sights and sounds of Fluffy Favourites Megaways. Its grid consists of 6 principle reels holding 2-7 symbols each, with an extra horisontal 4 symbol reel sitting at the top – so far, standard stuff. The rest of the screen displays a striped big top tent, balloons, and a Ferris wheel, all topped off with a rainbow. In theory, it uses the same imagery as the original Fluffy Favourites game but in a much-modernised form – 15 years have passed between them, after all. Fluffy Favourites Megaways is not the kind of game you play if you’re in the mood for something muscular, heavy, dark, or mythological. It is, however, perfect for players after the slot version of candy floss. Like candy floss, though, its ultra-sticky sweetness is not for every palette.

If Fluffy Favourites Megaways’ sugariness is just what you’re after, then it can be played on any device, offering a range of bets from 20 p/c to £/€10 per spin. One of Fluffy Favourites Megaways’ sore spots is its rather disappointing RTP value of 94.99%, which feels a little analogous alongside all of those soft toys. Eyecon uses an unusual statistic to rate their slots called ‘Game Play’, where Fluffy Favourites Megaways has been judged Hard. Game Play certainly doesn’t refer to ‘hard’ as in barbarian hard, and volatility has been officially rated as ‘medium’, so it’s not totally clear what they are referring to.

To continue, on each spin, main reels display a different number of symbols, producing win ways as high as 117,649. Players can monitor the number of ways in a meter in the screen’s top corner. Winning using this system occurs when matching symbols land adjacently from the first reel; 2 or more in the case of the 2 top premium symbols – a dragon and a hippo; 3 or more for all the others – gorillas, pandas, lions, turtles, horses, rhinos, ducks, and fish. Values for 6 of a kind combinations range from 0.5 up to 50 times your stake.

Fluffy Favourites Megaways: Slot Features

When wins hit on the reels, they are removed by the cascade feature, dropping in new symbols to replace them. This may very well lead to consecutive win chains as the cascade process repeats until no new combinations hit. Cascades also increase a win multiplier. The multiplier begins on x1, increasing by +1 on each cascade. In the base game, the multiplier resets between spins.

Remember those devices that drop a claw into a tub of items, and you have to manoeuvre it into just the right spot to pick up a prize? Fluffy Favourites Megaways uses a similar device, but here you might actually win something from it. The claw symbol is wild and lands on the top reel. If one is used in a win, it drops to the bottom of the reels to collect a random multiplier of 1x-5x. If more than one claw activates, the values are multiplied up to 625x.

Don’t worry, you’re not hallucinating when the pink elephants arrive; these are the bonus game scatters – 3 or more in view award 9 free spins, plus 3 more free spins for every additional pink elephant on the board. The main difference in free spins is the win multiplier does not reset. Other than that, the rules are the same as the base game. Landing elephants in the bonus game awards +2 free spins each.

Fluffy Favourites Megaways: Slot Verdict
Players who went in for Fluffy Favourites or Fluffy Favourites Fairground should get the warm and fuzzies spinning Fluffy Favourites Megaways, as will anyone with a soft toy fascination. Others will have to try harder to fall for its charms. Even if you get past the kiddy visuals, there are several aspects about Fluffy Favourites Megaways which irritate, such as the jerky animations plus the sad RTP. It’s not an unusual figure for this studio, yet it significantly lags behind what most other developers are doing and gives reason to pause.

Then again, maybe players who dig the theme couldn’t give two hoots about a below-average RTP. On a positive note, potential wins are high, at over 20,000 times the stake. Having the win multiplier on free or paid spins, which you don’t always get in a Megaways game, helps. As does the enormous multipliers possible when several claw symbols hit. There are a good number of features as a whole which are all themed based and integrate with the fairground experience nicely.

However, it felt like we had to dig a bit too hard to find things we liked about Fluffy Favourites Megaways. There is no doubt you can win big, and fans of the older games might appreciate the upgrade, yet, the gaming felt unsatisfying. Unless you really want to snuggle up with soft toys at a fairground, and no one is judging, Fluffy Favourites Megaways sickly sweetness doesn’t just hurt your teeth; it takes to them with a blunt instrument.

Fans of the original Fluffy Favourites games might get a kick out of the reboot, but a couple of notable drawbacks lessen its entertainment value.
