Traditional chalets showcasing the best in artisanal festive products and goods from local makers will fill East Princes Street Garden, stocked full of handcrafted decorations and gifts for all the family, or little treats for yourself.

The Forth 1 Big Wheel returns, bringing breath-taking views of Edinburgh’s winter skyline and the markets below; along with a selection of family and thrill rides to add a bit of adrenaline to your festive outing – for those that want it!

With Street Food vendors bringing a selection of the finest Bavarian produce and Scottish delicacies as well as bars serving warming winter tipples, craft beers and hot chocolates, everything you could want to get in the festive spirit is catered for.

Don’t forget to head on from East Princes Street to Lidl on Ice, our covered ice-rink on George Street and Santa Land in West Princes Street Gardens, with our Christmas Tree Maze, more traditional rides and the all important Santa’s Stories for the wee ones – including a very special Santa’s Paws event.

With so much on offer, everyone is welcome across Edinburgh’s Christmas.

Access into the Christmas Markets is free and unticketed, but please be aware the market areas can be very busy at peak times and queueing mechanisms will be in place during these periods for safety.

Forth 1 Big Wheel
The Forth 1 Big Wheel returns to East Princes Street Gardens to give passengers a unique perspective of our spectacular city. With incredible views of the historic Old Town, Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat, as well as sparkling evening views of Edinburgh’s Christmas attractions, one ride on the Forth 1 Big Wheel won’t be enough! Enjoy the comfort of the enclosed, weather-proof pods, with an informative soundtrack by some of Forth 1’s finest DJs. Additional Rides
For all additional rides, tickets are not available in advance. Please purchase your tickets on the day of your visit at the attraction by one of our Front of House staff.
Please read all information relating to height restrictions and prices for each East Princes Street Garden ride:

* Sizzlers – £6 * Must be over 1m to ride with adult or over 1.2m without adult

* Techno Power – £7 * Must be over 1.3m to ride

East Princes Street Gardens is fully accessible from both Princes Street and Waverley Bridge.

An accessible toilet is provided by Edinburgh City Council at the Mound Precinct – please contact a member of Edinburgh’s Christmas staff for the key. There is a Changing Places Toilet located in The Booking Office Pub on Waverley Bridge.

There are viewing pods in the Forth 1 Christmas Wheel designed to accommodate manual wheelchairs.

Pay and display parking for East Princes Street Gardens is available on Frederick Street, George Street, Hanover Street and Waterloo Place. This is free for Blue Badge holders with no time limit. Sensory Backpacks are available to pick up from the information point. The backpacks come in two sizes, one for adults and one for children. Each one contains a fidget toy, earplugs, chewable toy, stress reliever and ear defenders. These items are designed to help users relax and overcome stressful or intense situations. Look for the Sensory Backpack logo on the information points to collect and return the backpacks. We ask that you return the backpack and ear defenders – the rest is yours to keep.
